NASA will let viewers track Artemis 1 mission in real-time

Space enthusiasts will be able to track NASA's Orion spacecraft on its mission around the moon in real-time using the Artemis Real-time Orbit Website (AROW). This will be available on August 28, on NASA's website and @NASA_Orion Twitter account.

Orion spacecraft is expected to travel 40,000 miles beyond the moon in its first integrated flight test with the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket.

Through the website, viewers can track the spacecraft's distance from the Earth, distance from the Moon, mission duration, and more. Sensors will collect the data and send it to the Mission Control Center at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston during its flight.

Orion programmer and creator of AROW, Seth Lambert, says “This is a really powerful way to engage with the mission and understand the scope of what NASA is trying to accomplish with Artemis I.”

On the website, users will be able to track the mission's key milestones, and characteristics of the moon, including information about landing sites.

With the Artemis mission, NASA will also be landing the first woman and the first person of colour on the moon.
