Various political parties hold celebrations in the province on Aug 14

Economic, political and all other issues will be resolved if Pakistan remains strong and stable, Administrator Karachi Murtaza Wahab said on the 75th Independence Day.

He was talking to the media after laying wreath at the tomb of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah on behalf of the citizens of the Karachi.

"We should first think about our motherland, worry about it and work for its stability," he said. In response to a question, he said as soon as the rains end, the road construction and repair work will be started.

Meanwhile, Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan held flag hoisting and cake cutting ceremony in all the districts of Sindh and all the towns of Karachi.

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi chief Engr Hafiz Naeemur Rehman addressing ceremonies and rallies held to celebrate the Independence Day said development of Karachi was crucial for the progress and development of Pakistan.

Pak Sarzameen Party Chairman Mustafa Kamal addressing party workers and supporters said, "we have yet to achive true independence. The British colonialists left in 1947 but left behind their slaves to keep us enslaved. We must struggle against the oppressive system to gain true independence."

Tehreek-e-Labaik Pakistan Karachi Division organised Labaik Azadi March a march from Civic Center to Quaid's Mazar on instructions of the TLP Chief Saad Hussain Rizvi.

Separately, leaders of Ahele Sunnat Wal Jamaat Pakistan addressing the Salam Pakistan rally said the Muslims achieved the country of Pakistan, but now they must consider how far they have achieved the goal for which their ancestors gave their lives, honour and liberty.

A delegation of Majlis Wahdat Muslimeen of Sindh province, headed by President Allama Baqir Abbas Zaidi, along with Ulema and Zakarin, visited the shrine of the Founder of Pakistan, presented a bouquet of flowers, offered Fatiha and special prayers for the country's development. Baqir Abbas Zaidi said while talking to the media the acquisition of Pakistan was not just for a piece of land, but its aim was to establish an Islamic state that would be independent in its decisions.
