HYDRABAD:

Five persons of a family from Hyderabad who were seriously injured in the gas blast in a house succumbed to their injuries during treatment at a private hospital in Karachi on Thursday.

The bodies of deceased Ratan Tanboli, Sawitri, 50, Ainee, 35, Usha, 22, and Sharda, 5, were sent to their hometown, Ghareebabad, for burial.

Four more children of the family are still under treatment in the same hospital but, according to the doctors, three of them are in critical condition.

The general secretary of Liaquat University Hospital (LUH) Paramedical Staff Association, Ravi Tanboli, in whose house the incident occurred, informed that gas leakage led to huge fire in their house on Wednesday morning.

"The gas accumulated in the house caught fire after a family member lit a match stick," he said.

Ratan and Sawitri were Ravi's parents while Ainee was his sister, Usha was sister-in-law and Sharda was the niece.

Entire house was gutted in the fire, he said.

A large number of area people, representatives of traders and local political figures attended the funeral.

The Pakistan Peoples Party's provincial information secretary Aajiz Dhamrah assured the family of the provincial government's support.
