LAHORE:

With the Independence Day just around the corner, the Punjab Police has finalised strict security arrangements across the province.

On instructions of IG Punjab Faisal Shahkar, the police will be in action against law breakers so that the families coming to all public places including parks can celebrate the Independence Day in a peaceful environment, said a police spokesperson.

The IG Punjab has directed all the supervisory officers of the province to strictly deal with one-wheeling, aerial firing and rioting on the streets on Independence Day and take legal action without discrimination.

He directed the officers that a zero-tolerance policy should be adopted against those who engage in hooliganism, and harassment of women.

He directed that lady personnel will be posted for the protection of families and women visiting recreational places.

He directed the RPOs and DPOs to form special squads to prevent one-wheeling, and to take legal action against workshop owners who remove silencers from motorcycles.

IG Punjab directed that extra personnel and special security arrangements will be made between August 13 and 14 and those who block roads unnecessarily and create problems for citizens will be dealt with strictly.
