LAHORE:

Nearly 1,000 people are being sheltered in 29 relief camps in Mianwali and Dera Ghazi Khan.

These camps have been established by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).

The Adviser to the Chief Minister on Information, Omar Sarfaraz Cheema, said on Wednesday that the provincial government was “vigorously engaged in relief and rehabilitation” of the flood-affected families.

“People displaced owing to floods are being provided with three meals a day, clean drinking water and medical treatment facilities. So far, 31,933 people have been provided with medical care,” he added.

He said that ration bags had also been distributed among 11,461 families for one month besides the distribution of 12,189 tents.

The Punjab government was providing all possible support to institutions, and steps were being taken to shift the flood victims back to their homes, he said.

The adviser to the chief minister said that 25 teams were working round the clock to assess the damages caused to homes and crops in the flood-affected areas.

He said that six relief camps had also been set up in the flood-hit areas for treatment of livestock.

“We also pay tributes to the services of Pak Army in rescue and relief operation. The Pak Army is always ready and available to extend necessary help and support,” he said.
