Govt to launch low-cost housing scheme in Bannu

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government has decided to launch a new housing scheme in district Bannu in order to provide local residents with low price and affordable housing.

An important meeting to this effect was held here the other day with Chief Minister K-P Mahmood Khan in the chair. It discussed various matters related to the proposed housing scheme and took important decisions.

Provincial Minister for Housing Amjad Ali Khan and Minister for Local Government Faisal Amin Ghandapur were present on the occasion. The meeting was also attended by Principal Secretary to CM Amjad Ali Khan, Secretary Local Government Zaheerul Islam, Secretary Law Masood Ahmad, Secretary Planning and Development Shah Mahmood and other senior officials.

The participants of the meeting were told that the housing scheme would be established on southern part of Bannu and linked through Bannu-Lakki Road. It will be the first ever green and sustainable housing scheme of the province having all the facilities of modern civic life. It was further informed that Provincial Working Development Party had already approved PC-1 of the project worth Rs62 million.

The meeting decided to hand over the execution of the project from Local Government Department to Housing Department with the aim to start practical work on the project at the earliest time and complete the project in stipulated time period.

The chair directed the authorities concerned to convene a meeting of the board of Provincial Housing Authority to formally hand over the project to the housing department for accelerated execution.

He termed the proposed project an important one to meet the ever increasing requirements of residential accommodation in southern parts of the province.

While hinting at performing the ground breaking of the project in his upcoming visit to district Bannu, the chief minister directed the officials to put in place all the required arrangements for the purpose.
