Highest precipitation in Gulshan Hadid at 47mm, lowest in DHA at 0.8mm

The port city received light to moderate showers as the fourth spell of the current monsoon season entered the metropolis on Sunday.

The highest precipitation was recorded in Gulshan Hadid at 47mm, while the lowest was recorded in DHA at 0.8mm.

Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned fishermen to beware of high tides in the open sea and not to venture to faraway.

The day dawned in the bustling metropolis with bright sunshine, however, by afternoon, clouds emerged from the eastern horizon with light to moderate showers making the weather pleasant.

The rain in the city started in the afternoon from the M9 Motorway and then spread to different areas of the city including Gulshan Hadid, Sarjani. Town, Saadi Town, Malir, Gadap Town and Gulshan Mymar. According to PMD data Gulshan Hadid received highest rain with 47mm, followed by Quaidabad 43mm, Jinnah Terminal 20mm, Old Airport 9.1mm, PAF Base Faisal 7mm, Saadi Town 6mm, University Road 2.5mm, Korangi 2.2mm, PAF base Masroor and Sadar one mm, while DHA recorded the lowest of 0.8 mm. As per PMD Early Warning Center, the city is expected to experience moderate thundershowers on Monday and heavy rain in some places on Tuesday.

Monsoon winds may intensify from August 9, Karachi may experience moderate to heavy rains with thundershowers between August 9 and 13.
