CHAK JHUMRA:

A teenage girl was shot dead by unknown suspects, who dumped her body on a canal bank. A three-year-old child was also found on the other side of the canal, who pointed out the victim’s body. Police also questioned the child who was found alive, but he was unable to answer any of the police’s questions.

The body of a 17-year-old girl was found on Satyana Road near a canal bank. The victim was shot in the back of her head by unknown assailants. She was clad in light pink clothes and khussas at the time of her death.

Police reached the spot upon information from passers-by, who were directed to the body by an unknown 3-year-old child, who was found crying on the road on the other side of the canal.

Forensic units reached the crime scene and took the body into their custody. Police later shifted the dead body to hospital and launched a search operation for the deceased's relatives. In spite of announcements through loudspeakers in nearby mosques and villages, the victim’s relatives could not be found.

Police officials stated that the child found near the crime scene was likely the victim’s son. The child was questioned, but being in a state of shock, did not say anything about the incident. Police therefore surmised that the child was an eyewitness to the incident and was severely traumatized. The boy is now in the protective custody of a female Constable.

Women being murdered unfortunately remains a common occurrence within Punjab. Last month in Khurrianwala, three women were allegedly murdered by their husbands. Fakhra Kulsoom was allegedly shot dead by her husband of 13 years, Imran Zahid.

Meanwhile, Mujahid Iqbal was married to the 27-year-old daughter of Gulzar Ahmed.

Separately, Abdul Ghafoor lodged a complaint with police, alleging that his son-in-law poisoned his daughter, Zahran Bibi. According to the complaint, the suspect committed the act with his brothers.

Police registered cases for the incidents.
