Dharabi lake, Lakhwal dam upgraded for tourism

Official orders launch of motorboats, rowboats immediately

In order to promote tourism in the area, Dharabi lake and Lakhwal dam have been upgraded.

Secretary Tourism Punjab Ihsan Bhatta instructed officials concerned to launch rowboats and to arrange other required facilities for tourists in these areas on an urgent basis so that tourists fully enjoy the scenic beauty of these areas and are provided with all the needed facilities.

Bhatta reviewed the ongoing development projects and the available facilities in TDCP Kallar Kahar Resort, Dhok Talian, Lakhwal, and Dharabi the other day.

Moreover, during the inspection of a significant tourism project at Dharabi Dam, he issued directions to complete the project as soon as possible and open it for the tourists. He also provided detailed information regarding the measures for the promotion of tourism. "The tourism department plays a vital role in promoting tourism in Punjab as per the Punjab government's directives."

Earlier, Deputy Commissioner and Chairman District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Adnan Mahmood Awan took notice of the non-installation of awareness boards in the dams, lakes and other reservoirs in the district.

He reprimanded the local administration of Small Dams Department and issued orders to complete the installation of the said information boards immediately and submit a report.

The deputy commissioner and DDMA chairman made it clear that the people coming to the dams and lakes located within the district boundaries would be alerted to the dangers of swimming and bathing and deployment of required staff and specific warning signs will be in place.

All necessary precautionary measures, including installation, should be completed immediately. These measures are aimed at preventing the loss of human lives in drowning incidents.

He directed the officers of District Police, Assistant Commissioners, Management of Small Dams, Traffic Police, TDCP and Rescue 1122 to fulfill the respective responsibilities assigned earlier in the order of District Administration.
