A man was stabbed to death while his brother suffered injuries over the construction of a room dispute in Gujar Khan on Friday.

The killing took place over the construction of a room, Babar Hussain told the police. He added that his brother Nasir Hussain died of multiple stabbings and he suffered injuries. Police have registered a case and started an investigation.

In a separate incident, the body of a newborn was recovered from a garbage dump within the jurisdiction of the Airport police station.

According to a spokesperson, police personnel Amir Hameed was in the area on routine security duty when he received information about the presence of the body of a newborn at Shaheed Chowk near Lalyal Road. He reached the spot and discovered the body of a one-day-old baby, presumably dumped there by someone.

Police have registered a case against unidentified persons and started an investigation.

Meanwhile, Rawalpindi police in an action against suspected drug peddlers and bootleggers on Friday arrested two suspects and seized five kgs of hashish, 27 bottles of liquor and 24 bottles of beer from their possession.

A police spokesperson said that Naseerabad police held a bootlegger named Qadoos and recovered 27 bottles of liquor and 24 bottles of tins. In another raid, Naseerabad police rounded up a drug peddler identified as Bilal and seized five kgs of hashish. Separate cases have been registered against all suspects, he added.
