A 20-year-old shepherd died after being hit by a train near Rawat Industrial Area on Thursday. The deceased was identified as Aleem, said the police, adding that he couldn’t hear the train coming as his hearing was impaired and he was sitting on the track. He died on the spot.

The body was shifted to a nearby hospital. Meanwhile, police arrested two bike lifters and recovered a stolen motorcycle, Rs60,000 cash and other items from his possession. According to a police spokesman, a team under the supervision of SHO Sadiqabad Police Station, managed to net two accused, namely Kamran and Abid, bike lifters, who were allegedly involved in several cases registered in different police stations.

A case has been registered against the accused while further investigation is underway, he added. On the same day, police arrested six arm holders and recovered illegal arms, ammunition from their possession during a crackdown. The police spokesman said that during course of action, Naseerabad police arrested Syed Muhammad and recovered a 30 bore pistol.
