Suspect strangled victim to death when she rejected his proposal

Police on Thursday claimed to have solved the murder of an unidentified woman and arrested the suspect who confessed to the crime.

Alpa police recovered the corpse of an unidentified woman in a gunny bag on June 23 near the flood embankment in Bheni Soba Khan.

The police conducted an autopsy of the body and registered case under section 302 PPC against the unidentified suspects.

Taking action on the issue, City Police Officer (CPO) Khurram Shahzad Haider formed a team to arrest the perpetrator at the earliest.

The police team, using modern investigative and forensic techniques, solved the murder by identifying the body as that of Fozia Siddiqi and arresting Sheikh Mumtaz, a resident of Melsi in Vehari.

During the investigations, the accused confessed that he suffocated her to death when she refused his marriage proposal.

He then stuffed her body in a gunny bag and dumped her in a crop field.

The CPO Khurram Shahzad Haider announced commendatory certificates and cash prizes for the police team, police sources added.
