Wildlife staff get bikes to stop illegal hunting

175 new motorbikes have been distributed throughout 36 Punjab districts so far

The Punjab government has provided motorbikes to wildlife department officials to apprehend poachers and stop illegal hunting of animals and birds.

A total of 175 new motorbikes have been distributed throughout 36 districts of Punjab. One motorbike was given for Kallar Syedan, one for Attock, one for Lohi Bher Park, one for Murree and one for the female assistant director. Five more bikes will be distributed among field officials in the Rawalpindi district this week. Earlier, the Punjab government upgraded the scale of several employees of fisheries, forest and wildlife and other departments.

According to a notification issued earlier, fisheries, forests and wildlife departments will work together in the future to stop the illegal hunting of wildlife, animals and fish and the illegal cutting of timber in forests across Punjab.

The three departments will also be provided weapons, motorcycles and walkie-talkies to carry out the task. The scale of head wildlife watcher has been upgraded from 7 to 9, the post of wild watcher has also been upgraded from 5 to 9 as head watcher while the scale of wildlife inspector has been upgraded from 9 to 11.
