SHO shot dead by fleeing suspects

Slain officer had served in the position for only two days

SHO City Police Station Hayatullah Khan was gunned down by two unknown suspects who were allegedly fleeing after stealing a motorcycle. According to details, SHO Khan was informed about the two suspects within the area of City Police Station.

He immediately rushed to the spot and encountered the suspects, however the robbers opened indiscriminate fire and claimed the life of the police officer and fled the scene. DPO Syed Ali Raza cordoned off the area and ordered a search for the suspects. The body of the martyred SHO was shifted to the mortuary at District Headquarters Hospital for a post-mortem.

According to police sources, Hayatullah Khan served as SHO in various police stations across the district, only being posted as SHO at City Police Station just two days ago. The family of the deceased, including his brother and young son, were overwhelmed with grief after hearing the news. Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to Hayatullah Khan for embracing martyrdom while on duty in Bhakkar. The CM extended heartfelt sympathies to the heirs and sought a report from the inspector general of police. He said the killers should be arrested at the earliest and brought in the net of the law.
