KARACHI:

Police have registered a murder case under the Anti-Terrorism Act against a man, Ashiq Hussain, who had allegedly strangled his wife then stuffed her body in a huge pot and left it to boil on the stove before fleeing the crime scene, police said.

The mutilated body of a woman, Nargis, 32, was found in the kitchen of a closed school in Gulshane-Iqbal where the couple lived in a quarter, Mobina Town Police Station SHO Saleem Awan said, adding Ashiq worked there as a watchman.

Police registered a case against the accused Ashiq Hussain under Section 302 and 7 ATA on the complaint of Syed Mushtaq Hussain, brother of the slain Nargis.

As per complainant, the couple was cousins and had six children and Ashiq fled the scene with three.

Mushtaq told the police that as per his knowledge his sister and her husband had fought over relocating to another neighbourhood.

According to the SHO, the eldest daughter of the victim, who is around 16 years old, told police that the incident took place on Tuesday.

She claimed that her father allegedly pressured her mother for immoral activities. When she refused, the man got enraged and killed her mother.

The victim’s daughter further said that she had gone to her uncle’s house in Orangi Town on Tuesday night and informed him about the incident, who came to their home and handled the situation.

According to the text of the FIR filed by Mushtaq, when he reached his sister’s home he saw her mutilated body in a huge pot on a burning stove in the kitchen and her amputated leg on the floor.

The killer had severed the leg because it was not fitting in the cauldron.

In this regard, SHO Mubina Town Inspector Saleem Awan said that raids are being carried out in search of the accused.
