63,450 cancer patients avail Sehat Card scheme

K-P chief minister directs inclusion of more hospitals in scheme

A total of 63,450 cancer patients benefited from the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s flagship Sehat Card Plus scheme, a high-level meeting was informed on Thursday.

Moreover, 97 kidney transplants and 23 liver transplants were also carried out under the scheme.

In order to ensure provision of free treatment facilities under Sehat Card Plus to the people at their doorsteps, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has ordered inclusion of the leftover District Headquarter Hospitals in the scheme.

He also ordered putting on panel selected Tehsil Headquarter Hospitals in the scheme in the second phase.

The chief minister also stressed strict monitoring of hospitals included in Sehat Card Plus Scheme, adding that any hospital found negligent towards public service delivery should be excluded from the scheme immediately.

He urged the need to achieve 100 per cent results of the purpose for which Sehat Card Scheme was initiated.

He issued these directives while chairing a meeting held here on Thursday.

Provincial Minister for Health Taimur Salim Jhagra, Special Assistant to CM Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, Secretary Health Amir Sultan Tareen, Project Director Dr Riaz Tanoli and other relevant officials attended the meeting.

On the progress made thus far under Sehat Card Plus scheme, it was informed that during the fiscal year 2021-22, hundred per cent of funds allocated for the project were utilized for the free treatment facilities as around 800,000 patients were admitted and treated under the program during the same fiscal year.

It was further revealed that so far 111,560 cardiac patients and over 206,000 gynae patients were treated under the scheme. Similarly, 63,450 oncology (cancer) cases were handled. Moreover, 97 kidney transplants and 23 liver transplants were carried out under the scheme.
