LAHORE:

Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has said that the dream of the Sharifs to enslave the nation will be shattered in the upcoming by-elections.

Speaking to the media after Eidul Azha prayers, he said people would have to vote for the Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on July 17 to get rid of incompetent rulers.

He said people of Punjab would give their decision against the rulers in the by-elections.

He said the by-elections in every constituency of the provincial assembly scheduled on July 17 are against those representatives who had switched their loyalties.

Those who change political allegiances will be defeated.

The PTI will win the byelections by a landslide, he maintained.

He said that the incompetence of the so-called experts in the government had brought the country’s economy to the brink of collapse.

They always win elections by bullying, rigging and using government machinery against opponents, he alleged.

The speakers said the PTI candidates and workers had to guard their votes.

He said the Supreme Court should take notice of blatant violation of the code of conduct and development work by the Punjab government in the constituencies where by-elections were being held.

Speaking to a former MNA Chaudhry Nazir Ahmed Jutt and his daughter Arifah Nazir who called on called on him, the provincial assembly speaker said hurting the people was the favourite pastime of the PML-N.

During the past four months, instead of giving relief to the people, they had caused only trouble.

The rulers have failed to give relief to the people, only inflation and heavy taxes are their achievement, he said.

He alleged that the agenda of the rulers was only to end their corruption cases.

The people will teach the perpetrators of inflation a lesson with the power of vote, he said.
