Information minister rejected claims of opponents that officials were on Eid holidays

Sindh Information Minister, Sharjeel Inam Memon said that city recorded 40mm of rain in two days.

Government departments have completed dewatering in 95 per cent of areas while remaining areas will be cleared till late night.

Talking to the press at KPT Underpass, Clifton, the minister said that problems multiplied due to continuous rains and high tides in the sea.

However, despite all odds, provincial ministers, chief secretary, Karachi administrator and officials of KMC, DMCs, Solid Waste Management, district administration were present in their respective areas to supervise the relief operation.

Rejecting the claims of opponents that officials were on Eid holidays, he termed it a political game and an attempt to gain favour ahead of upcoming local bodies elections.

He added that Sindh government used all resources to ensure dewatering through natural drains and manual pumping.

He said that KPT Underpass was cleared by 6.00am while dewatering process at Submarine Underpass and Customs House was in progress that would be completed soon.

The minister said that Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Murad Ali Shah is overseeing the relief operations.
