Movie: Thor: Love and Thunder
Chris Hemsworth. Christian Bale. Natalie Portman. Taika Waititi. Need we say more? For all Marvel fans who were left pleasantly surprised by Thor: Ragnarok, Taika Waititi grasps the directorial helm for Thor once again to bestow audiences with this absolute treat. The premise of the film is that a post-Endgame Thor journey forth to find inner peace, facing a ton of obstacles on his chosen path. Oh, and - there's also a cosmic killer on the loose (because of course there is) whose primary directive is to eliminate gods. This is bound to be a rollercoaster of a ride, and one that should not be missed at any cost.
Song: SYL - Sidhu Moose Wala
The slain singer and rapper's thoroughly political posthumous release, which has been slated for removal from YouTube India is a brave, gritty, unmistakably gutsy take on the Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal - the long-running bone of violent contention between Punjab and Haryana. The song also does not hold back whilst depicting the deadly riots of 1984 that targeted the Sikh community. In life, the iconic rapper cemented himself to be one of the greats, standing up for his community vehemently. In death, he is a reminder of the fact that art is political, and must be utilized to send the right message at all costs.
Show: Barry
There's always that one show where each and every character is ridiculously unlikable, but is also so thoroughly human, that you can't help but be invested. SNL giant, Bill Hader, brings forth such a show to HBO, in the form of a journey of an ex-marine who has become a hitman, who happens to chance upon an acting class, believing he can find salvation by redirecting his passion. Watching Bill Hader breathe life into Barry is an absolute treat, as one takes in the paradoxically superficial and deep facets of his life, and those who make up his immediate circle of influence. Hilarious, raw, dark, and intriguing, this show is a must-watch.
