Public is requested to take all precautionary measures because the Congo virus is deadly

Balochistan government spokesperson Farah Azeem Shah on Friday said people should take precautionary measures before going to cattle markets in view the of Congo virus and lumpy skin disease (LSD).

“Vaccination and sprays to prevent LSD and Congo are underway,” she said in a statement issued to the press ahead of Eid ul Azha.

In this regard, there are livestock teams deployed at all the cattle markets of the province who are taking immediate steps to contain the Congo virus.

Therefore, the public is requested to take all precautionary measures because the Congo virus is deadly.

Shah said that the Livestock Department has set up a market in Quetta for Eid to provide relief to the people by means of ensuring availability of affordable sacrificial animals.

She said that sheep and goats are being sold at a price of Rs770 per kg.

Another market has been set up on Government Poultry Farm, Brewery Road. Apart from this, spraying and vaccination against Congo virus and LSD will also be continued in all the cattle markets of Balochistan.

She said that the provincial government has created awareness among the people about Congo virus and LSD.
