RAWALPINDI:

The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) have put new arrangements in place at local parks and lakes while also taking steps to make the upcoming holidays memorable for the citizens of the twin cities ahead of Eidul Azha.

Besides stepping up security, all major parks have been equipped with activities such as new amusement rides, computerised gaming, dodgem cars, haunted house, horse riding and boating in the ponds.

Charges for different amusements range from Rs30 to Rs500, while the fees for boating would be between Rs500 and Rs700 per ride.

Improvements in existing facilities at renowned recreational spots including Ayub National Park, Jinnah Park, Rumi Park, Allama Iqbal Park, Shehbaz Sharif Park, Potohar Park, Rawal Dam, Daman-e-Koh, Shakarparian, H-9 Park, Joyland and Ladies Park have been ensured.

Jogging tracks in many parks have been extended, while a wide variety of flowers have enhanced the overall beauty of these places and additional benches have been installed to accommodate the maximum number of visitors.

Arrangements for a dedicated area where underprivileged children can enjoy free-of-cost rides have also been made.

The timings of these parks will be 9am to 1am during Eid holidays, which will revert to 10am to 12am once the break is over.

Meanwhile, the parking fees have been fixed at Rs50 for cars and Rs30 for motorcycles.
