Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Parvez Elahi has said that it is the responsibility of all parties, including the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) and PML-Nawaz (PML-N) to accept orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan and implement them in good faith.
He said in a statement that the assembly session will be held in accordance with the orders of the apex court, impartiality and transparency will be ensured along with a good and friendly atmosphere and the officers will conduct their functions in accordance with the Constitution, law and rules.
Elahi said Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz had also assured the Supreme Court that he and his cabinet would complete the process of by-elections in a fair and transparent manner in light of the decision.
The rulers will not use law enforcement agencies against the opposition and no development schemes or funds will be given in the constituencies.
He said that the government should strictly implement the decision of the Supreme Court about transfers and postings. If there is a process of tender in the constituencies, it is the duty of the government to terminate it immediately in light of the decision of the Supreme Court. The speaker added that all political parties, ministers and advisers must not violate the code of conduct issued by the Election Commission.
