JHELUM/ RAWALPINDI:

The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) also organised an awareness seminar in connection with their anti-dengue campaign, which included a walk and the distribution of pamphlets on dengue awareness and prevention on Murree Road Rawalpindi.

RDA Director Admin and Finance Asif Mehmood Janjua has directed RDA personnel to visit the homes and request them not to allow water to accumulate within their premises to prevent dengue. He added that the authorities had been directed to take legal action against people leaving stagnant water in their homes and violating the restrictions, to which an FIR will also be lodged.

In regards to Eid-ul-Adha, he requested people to prevent water from stagnating, especially these days. Besides Director Janjua, several other administration officials attended the seminar and walk.

On the same day, an awareness seminar commemorating Dengue Day was held at the District Council Hall under the auspices of the District Administration Jhelum on a special directive from the Punjab Government.

Speaking to the seminar participants, Deputy Commissioner Kamran Khan said that "Cleanliness is half faith and that the only way to eradicate dengue is through cleanliness."

"Cleanliness can prevent many other diseases, take safety measures and also avoid going out after evening," he said. "We must take extra measures to keep our homes, workplaces, and other places clean in order to eradicate the dengue mosquito and prevent its spread. We all have to take joint steps to prevent dengue," he added.

The commissioner said that "Do not let rainwater collect on cemeteries, roofs, tires shops; cover pots and used tanks to store clean water."

At the end of the seminar, an awareness walk was also held from District Council Hall to Kachehri Chowk, and awareness pamphlets were distributed among the citizens. Participants held posters and placards to raise awareness where precautions were written against dengue fever.

A large number of people from all walks of life and media representatives attended the event.
