Minister denies media reports on approval of Local Bodies Act

As many as 11 unnecessary toll plazas will be removed to end the purposeless tolling and remove bottlenecks on highways of the province, Provincial Minister Ata said, while briefing about the decision taken by the fourth meeting of the provincial cabinet. He also denied media reports of approval of local bodies act.

Tarar told The Express Tribune that previous government had brought additional tolling points on the highways of the province which were causing bottlenecks and putting unnecessary financial burden on motorists.

He said additionally the said roads were also in dire need of repairs which was why cabinet had decided to scrap toll plazas of the province.

He said that the CM also directed that prison vans be better ventilated for the convenience of detainees.

He said the CM has headed prison reform committee in 2008 while during his own days in prison he saw the plight of the detainees firsthand.

The cabinet also decided to extend the wheat release policy and approved a two-month extension. The meeting also approved the constitution of the cabinet committee on wheat with the provincial food minister as its head.

The meeting approved the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab Privilege Bill, 2022 and the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab Secretariat Service Bill, 2022.
