KARACHI:

FBR officers and employees' pen-down strike entered its second day on Saturday at the Karachi Tax and other regional offices. Protesters held banners and placards, demanding the reinstatement of FBR allowances and rights.

The protesting employees demanded an immediate increase in fuel and salaries and the reinstatement of all Grade 1 to 22 employees' performance allowances from 2015 onwards. They warned of not ending the protest till their demands were fulfilled.

The employees protested by chanting slogans in favour of their demands. FBR officers and lower-level employees participated in the pen-drop protest. They are treated unjustly, despite diligently meeting revenue targets yearly," one of the demonstrators said.

Protesting FBR Deputy Commissioner Sajid Khan said workers' suspended allowances should be restored. "We are recording peaceful protests for the restoration of our rights," he stated.

"The protest will not impact the company's revenue targets." An FBR officers representatives' joint meeting was held on Monday all around the country to discuss future strategies.

"The protesting employees had conveyed their concerns to higher authorities. Restore the legal rights of FBR employees," the deputy commissioner asserted.
