The creative suite by Adobe is quite popular in the industry, however, due to the hefty subscription charges, the users often end up looking for other affordable and accessible options. To tackle the issue, Adobe is working on making Photoshop more accessible by launching it free through a web-based version for everyone. Adobe's VP of digital imaging, Maria Yap, says, "We want to make [Photoshop] more accessible and easier for more people to try it out and experience the product."
According to The Verge, the free version is currently being tested in Canada, where the users can access it through a free Adobe Account. Adobe labels the web-based version as 'freemium', which will have the core functions of Photoshop for free. With time, some features will be exclusively available to the subscribers to move the users towards the subscription model.
According to Gizmodo, Adobe has not yet given a timeline regarding when they will make it free for everyone. However, the company does understand the expectations of the audience.
