QUETTA:

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Balochistan on Monday filed a reference against a medical technician of a government hospital for accumulating assets worth over Rs200 million.

The accused is the owner of commercial plazas, various luxury vehicles, and agricultural lands in Quetta, Lahore, and Sahiwal, a NAB spokesman told The Express Tribune.

Khalid Bhati, medical technician of Muhtarman Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Hospital Quetta could not justify his assets including two commercial plazas, several luxurious cars, houses and several acres of agriculture land in Quetta, Lahore and Sahiwal city of Panjab registered in the names of his wife and business partner.

During a probe into the case of illegal asset, initiated on a complaint, NAB Balochistan came across the fact that accused medical technician allegedly made illegal assets while in service.

About two commercial plazas, several houses unearthed in Lahore and Sahiwal city of Punjab and a house in Quetta besides five expensive cars, the accused could not come up with satisfactory answers with regards to their ownership and source of income.

The investigation into the corruption case further revealed that the accused had registered the assets in the name of his wife and benamidar and business partner Faqir Hussain.

After gathering substantial proof, NAB Balochistan filed a reference with the accountability court in Quetta.

It is worth mentioning here that the accused is already in jail on judicial remand in yet another corruption case involving millions of rupee corruption in the purchase of anti-rabies injections also filed by the NAB Balochistan.

NAB Balochistan has launched a crackdown against the corrupt elements in various departments in the province.
