Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi chief Engr Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has demanded of the Cantonment Board Malir (CBM) to grant ownership rights to allotees of the Gulshan-e-Mehran project as per orders of the judiciary by June 15 and warned that otherwise the affectees and JI workers will stage protest sit-in.
The JI leader expressed these views on Sunday while addressing a rally jointly taken out by the affected families and the JI against injustice on the part of the CBM.
A large number of allotees and the JI activists participated in the march entitled Gulshan-e-Mehran Rights Rally. Protestors, carrying placards and banners, chanted slogans against the CBM.
Addressing the protest rally, the JI leader said unfortunately the CBM has become such a negative institution that dents the goodwill of the army. The cantonment boards work under the ambit of the defence ministry so the authorities in the ministry also need to take notice of the ordeal endured by 12,000 allotees of Gulshan-e-Mehran.
He elaborated that the allotees have been struggling for their due rights for the past several decades while the CBM has been declining their due rights despite court orders in their favor.
