Woman allegedly commits suicide in Haripur

Police say victim resorted to self-immolation over domestic dispute

A 22-year-old married woman committed suicide at her house in Jatti Pind on Friday.

Police said that the woman named Shaista Bibi poured petrol over her body and set it on fire. She died on the spot, said the police, adding that she took this extreme step over a domestic dispute. The body was shifted to a nearby hospital and later it was handed over to the family after completing legal and medical formalities.

A case has been registered at the Saddar police station and police are looking into the case.

Meanwhile, four people were injured when a fight broke out between two families in Mohra Ghazni, Tarnawal on Friday.

The injured were identified as Mamoon Al-Rasheed and Yasir Fakhar Zaman, Raja Qaiser Manzoor.

Police arrested Councilor and former Nazim, his two brothers, and his nephew for opening fire on the victims. A case has also been registered against them.

Fire incidents

A fire broke out at three different locations in Haripur on Thursday night but no loss of life was reported. The simultaneous fires at different places caused difficulties in rescue operations.

On the other hand, forest fires have also erupted in the mountains of Choi area of ​​Khanpur, including Ghazi. Rescue teams are battling the blaze.

As soon as the information was received, Rescue 1122 Haripur firefighter teams reached the spot and started the process of extinguishing the fire. The fire engulfed a wide area, posing a serious threat to wildlife.

Rescue 1122 personnel have been fighting the blaze under the supervision of District Emergency Officer Sharq Riaz Khattak since last night.
