'She's my first, only wife': Ex husband crashes Britney Spears intimate wedding

The pair announced their engagement via Instagram in September 2021

Pop singer Britney Spears is officially married to longtime boyfriend Sam Asghari after nearly six years together. The couple tied the knot on Thursday in an intimate ceremony at Spears' residence in LA , a source close to the couple confirmed to Variety.

The singer and personal trainer said "I do" with her brother, Bryan, among the guests, TMZ reported earlier on Thursday. Her mother Lynn, father Jamie and sister Jamie Lynn were not planning to be in attendance, according to the outlet.

The attendees included around 60 guests only including Drew Barrymore, Madonna, Selena Gomez, Paris Hilton and Kathy Hilton. According to sources, Spears wore a gown by famed fashion house Versace and walked down the aisle to Elvis Presley's Can't Help Falling in Love.

In a conversation with People magazine after the ceremony, Asghari's manager, Brandon Cohen shared, "I am very ecstatic this day has come, and they are married. I know he wanted this for so long. He is so caring and supportive every step of the way. I am so grateful to have Sam in my life and can't wait for the future they will build together."

It was also later revealed that Spears had been envisioning her wedding day for nearly nine months. "Britney started planning and dreaming about her wedding shortly after she got engaged in November," the publication quoted an insider. "It's a huge deal to her that she is finally able to get married. She wants it to be perfect."

However, the day wasn't as perfect as she would've wanted it to be. Bringing drama along, Spears' ex-husband Jason Alexander was arrested after attempting to crash the ceremony. "He has been detained handcuffed and arrested for his disgusting criminal misconduct," Spears' attorney Mathew Rosengart wrote in a statement to USA TODAY.

"I look forward to working closely with law enforcement to ensure he is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, as he must be," Rosengart continued. "Fortunately, Britney is safe."

The pair announced their engagement via Instagram in September 2021 but had not disclosed a wedding date.

Two months later, the Stronger singer was released from a legal conservatorship that had controlled her personal life and finances for 13 years. During court proceedings, she said she longed to get married and start a new family without any restrictions.

Spears announced in April that she and Asghari were expecting a baby. A month later, the singer said she had suffered a miscarriage.

Iranian-born Asghari, 28, is a personal trainer and actor who has appeared on the Showtime series Black Monday.

Spears, 40, has been married twice before. She wed childhood friend Alexander in Las Vegas in 2004, but that marriage was annulled a few days later. That same year, she married dancer Kevin Federline, with whom she had two children. That marriage ended in divorce in 2007.
