Security guard who raped foreign official on the run

Police say victim approached them to lodge complaint against security guard

ISLAMABAD:

A security guard who allegedly raped an official of an international organisation in Islamabad is still on the run.

The Swedish official is working in Pakistan since January 7 this year. She approached the police to register a complaint against a security guard deployed at her house.

A case has been registered against him by the Aabpara police. However, no progress has been made in the investigation.

The official said that she was provided the security guard named Muhammad Safir by a private security company. “I was trying to sleep in my bedroom when suddenly I felt someone’s presence. I turned around but there was nothing. Just as I tried to sleep a man fell over me and raped me,” she told the police. 

She added that the guard told her that he wanted to marry her but didn’t want to lose his job and requested her not to inform the police. “His voice seemed familiar and when I told him I want to go to the bathroom. I turned on the light and saw his face. He was my security guard.”

Aabpara police station SHO Asim Zaidi told The Express Tribune that he would update about the arrest soon. However, he could not be reached despite several attempts to contact him.

Teenage girl raped

Police arrested a man for his alleged involvement in a rape of a 16-year-old girl in Kahuta.

The girl’s father informed the police that his daughter went missing from her house on Tuesday night. He started searching for her but couldn’t find her. The girl returned home at 5am and informed his father about the suspect who took him to an under-construction house where he raped her. She told her father that she managed to escape.

According to the police, CPO Syed Shehzad Nadeem Bukhari took notice of the case and directed SP Saddar police station to arrest the accused. Kahuta police arrested the accused, identified as Mughis, within the next few hours.
