Sindh government has sent a letter to Indus River System Authority (IRSA) and expressed its grave concerns over an acute shortage of water in the province and demanded to release extra water to Sindh province so that shortages would be balanced during kharif season before 10th of June, 2022.
The officers of Sindh Irrigation Department have written a letter to IRSA authorities on the directives of Sindh Minister Irrigation Jam Khan Shoro in protest of severe water shortage in Sindh province and non-implementation of 1991 water apportionment accord.
Shoro said that Sindh province is facing severe water crisis due to unjust distribution of water shares by IRSA.
He added that IRSA authorities are not distributing water among the provinces on the basis of equality during the shortages of water as per water accord of 1991.
