The trailer of Bollywood star Aamir Khan’s much-awaited film, Laal Singh Chaddha, was unveiled on Sunday, during the IPL finale. The aforementioned film, a remake of the Hollywood hit Forrest Gump starring Tom Hanks and Robin Wright in the lead, features Aamir as Laal Singh Chaddha and Kareena Kapoor Khan as Vimmy.

The trailer introduces us to the titular character and the world as he sees it. Laal is a differently-abled child raised on a farm by a doting mother who only wants him to live a life as good as anyone else’s. Mona Singh plays Laal’s strong-willed mother and delivers a heartwarming performance that really is the focal point of the three-minute trailer.

The trailer takes us through Laal’s life as he becomes a professional runner and then goes on to join the Indian Army, navigating personal turmoil along the way. Somewhere along the way, Laal starts walking without his leg braces and falls in love with his childhood friend, Vimmy.

While the film flips through quite a few decades of Indian history, the one thing that remains the same is Laal’s love for Vimmy and the heartbreak that follows when she doesn’t reciprocate. The film marks Kareena’s comeback to Hindi cinema after 2019 and just like Laal, we see her character go through multiple transformations in post-independence India.

Towards the end, we see Laal as a transformed man sporting a beard and turban, reminiscing on his extraordinary life. With a background score that will tug at your heartstrings and a perfect balance of love, emotions, drama and comedy, Laal Singh Chaddha promises to be every bit as soul-stirring as the original Hollywood movie.

The film is set to release on August 11, 2022.

In an earlier interview, Aamir shared that the project took more than a decade to be made. The Rangeela actor revealed that next month, it will be 14 years since the film started shooting. "In June-July, the film will complete 14 years, since we started it. It has been quite a journey. First few years, we were running behind the rights of the film."

Shahabuddin Junejo | 2 years ago | Reply I know Indian movies are banned because of the Kashmir issue. Exception for this one movie Laal Sindh Chadda must be made and it must be released in Pakistan because it is a film made from the soul and for the souls no matter Indian and Pakistani. Aamir Khan also came to Pakistan in 2005 so I believe he is as much Pakistani as he is Indian.
