Calls for identifying spots in Cholistan for installing solar pumps

Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz has issued directions for steps to solve the water problem in Cholistan on a permanent basis along with improving the law and order situation in South Punjab.

Presiding over a meeting at the Circuit House in Bahawalpur, Hamza Shahbaz called for emergency steps to solve the water problem.

On the direction of the CM, a decision was taken to launch a pilot project of solar water pumps in Cholistan, said a handout.

Chief Minister Hamza asserted that places should be identified at the earliest in order to install solar water pumps. The CM ordered a survey of wildlife, especially birds on a scientific basis in the Lal Suhanra National Park along with producing a documentary for the promotion of tourism.

He called for availing the services of male and female students from various educational institutions for the purpose and ordered the wildlife department director general to submit a report within 10 days in this regard.

The CM underscored that the major part of livelihood of the people of South Punjab depended on wildlife and tourism and directed the commissioner of Bahawalpur to invite multinational companies to provide assistance to them.
