Speakers at a seminar on the role of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan in post-1857 social and economic development of Muslims said that the mission of the great educationist endures and people have to take it forward by promoting modern education in Muslims.
"The war of 1857 is not over yet, we achieved a partial victory in 1947. Now we have to think to get full independence, said Dr Zia-ul-Hassan while delivering a keynote address at a seminar on "War of Independence of 1857 and Sir Syed Ahmad Khan" held at the Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi.
He said that he was grateful to the President Arts Council Muhammad Ahmad Shah who reminded us of the forgotten subject of history.
Hassan said people of different religions and nationalities invaded India or migrated and settled here and became part of the social fabric.

Dr Jaffer Ahmed said that after 1875, Sir Syed lived for 45 years. What could be better than direct resistance and fighting with the British is for Muslims to prepare themselves for the future and get English education, for which Sir Syed launched a campaign and gave priority to English education. "We can also bring an educational revolution to the country by following in the footsteps of Sir Syed."
