Police kill suspected robber in shootout

Sohrab Goth, Azizabad, Baghdadi, Kalri, and Sharifabad Police killed one robber and apprehended seven others with injuries during alleged encounters in the early hours of Monday.

Sohrab Goth police arrested a robber with injuries after an alleged encounter near Nasira School on Superhighway. The injured accused was identified as 19-year-old Waqar, son of Taj Muhammad, while the name of his fugitive accomplice was known as Aminullah. The arrested accused was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medical treatment. According to SSP East, Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi, an accomplice of the arrested accused, managed to escape taking advantage of the darkness of the night.

Sohrab Goth police have already arrested the accused in a drug case, and a case has been registered against him at Sohrab Goth police station under sections 353/324/34. During the preliminary investigation, the accused confessed that he had robbed various shops in Supermarket, Superhighway and Sohrab Goth areas with his absconding accomplices. Police recovered a pistol with ammunition, cash and a mobile phone from the accused's possession.

Meanwhile, Azizabad police arrested two suspects after an alleged encounter at Muhammadi Ground in Block-8. The arrested suspects were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medical treatment through a police mobile.

According to a spokesperson for Karachi police, the injured suspects were identified as 25-year-old Umar Farooq, son of Abdul Rehman and 20-year-old Muhammad Nasir, son of Muhammad Hanif. Police recovered a TT pistol with ammunition, mobile phones, cash and a motorcycle from the suspects. The arrested suspects are involved in street crimes, theft, robbery and other serious crimes. An investigation will be launched after the accused are treated.

Baghdadi police arrested a suspect after an alleged encounter near the MC Dispensary on Lyari Slaughter Yard Road. The arrested accused was shifted to Dr Ruth K.M. Pfau Civil Hospital by ambulance. According to the spokesperson for Karachi police, the injured accused was identified as 24-year-old Athar Hussain, son of Muhammad Hussain. The accused has been shot in the right leg and is out of danger. A TT pistol, mobile phone and cash were recovered from the accused. An accomplice of the arrested accused managed to escape from the spot.

Earlier, Kalri police arrested two suspects after an alleged encounter near Old Truck Stand on Maripur Road. The arrested suspects were shifted to Dr Ruth K.M. Pfau Civil Hospital by ambulance. According to the spokesperson for Karachi police, the injured were identified as 35-year-old Humayun, son of Inamullah Khan and 25-year-old Ismail, son of Ishrat. The injured suspects have been shot in the legs, and their condition is stated to be out of danger. Two TT pistols with ammunition, mobile phones, cash and a motorcycle were recovered from the suspects.

Sharifabad Police killed one accused and arrested another in an alleged fire exchange near the Karimabad flyover's railway crossing. The dead and injured were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital by ambulances. According to the spokesperson, the deceased was identified as 30-year-old Waqas, son of Ghulam Muhammad, while the injured accused was identified as Ahmad Raza, son of Muhammad Naeem. During the exchange of fire, two suspects managed to escape taking advantage of the darkness of the night. Two TT pistols with ammunition snatched mobile phones, cash and a motorcycle were recovered from the dead and injured suspects.
