Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi arranged a protest sit-in, against the prolonged and deep water crises in the city, outside the head office of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board, and blocked main Shahra-e-Faisal on Friday.

Thousands of people took to Shahrah-e-Faisal to record their protest against the very basic issue of the megalopolis. People from all walks of life participated in the protest.

On the occasion, people, including women from a large number of neighbourhoods came forward and shared their respective ordeals. JI Karachi chief Engr Hafiz Naeemur Rehman while addressing the sit-in strongly condemned the Sindh government and the relevant officials over their corruption and inability to resolve the issues.

He said that government officials have already acknowledged that 174 million gallon water per day is accounted for leakage -- translating into a fact in fact that almost 40 percent water supply to Karachi is directly syphon to the tanker mafia.
