Former president and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari, while condemning former prime minister Imran Khan's remarks about Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice-President Maryam Nawaz, said that one should not stoop this low in politics.
Taking a jibe at Maryam during a rally in Multan earlier today, Imran said that she might annoy her husband the way she repeats his name during her political speeches.
"Someone sent me a clip of Maryam's speech... Maryam took my name repeatedly so passionately that she should be careful… it might annoy her husband," he added.
PTI Chairman #ImranKhan taunted PML-N Vice-President #MaryamNawaz by implying that she must have some obsession with him to belt out his name so enthusiastically during her political speeches. "Honourable people who have mothers and sisters in their homes do not use such language," the former president said in a statement.
"I wish someone would write a letter of 'personal observation' this time as well to the Chief Justice and he would take notice."
Shehbaz Sharif said that the language used against Maryam was regrettable and the entire nation particularly women are condemning it.

Imran Khan's crimes against the country and the nation cannot be concealed by expressing such remarks, he said, adding that what better can be expected from those who could not uphold the sanctity of the Prophet's (PBUH) mosque.
Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif said that Imran Khan does not know how to respect sisters and mothers.
"In the name of the state of Madina, he does things that are not even seen in the dirtiest of societies in the world," he added.
Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah said that Imran Khan has disrespected all the women of Pakistan by saying such remarks about Maryam. "It proves his character and bad upbringing... this loafer remained our prime minister for four years and kept spreading dirt," he added.
Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb also condemned the former PM's remarks in her tweet.
Despicable. IK thy name is Filth, it’s place is only in the gutter of history pic.twitter.com/MjBqIQOMLE
