KARACHI:

Living up to its notoriety of mismanagement, the Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) caused great encumbrance to students of grade nine and 10 on the first day of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) exam due to delay in issuing admit cards.

Instead of sitting in examination hall for their papers, scores of students were seen rushing to BSEK running from one window to another, one floor to another in search of the most vital document for appearing in exam - the admit card.

The government office clerks, known for being the poor-man version of a Pharaoh, sitting behind fortified walls and windows with iron bars and (to prevent anyone from grabbing them by the throat) kept sending the exasperated children and parents on wild goose chase in the sprawling board office building.

A large number of ninth and tenth class students failed to appear for the exams due to untimely issuance or inaccuracy of admit cards.

Minister for Education Boards Ismail Rahu taking notice of the issue has ordered to reschedule the first paper of the affected children.

According to the details, the experience of computerised admit card from BSEK was not good for many candidates. A large number of students and their parents reached BSEK before the examination to correct the mistakes made in the document.

Some of them did the required correction while other had to return home without getting their work done in frustration.

Many candidates failed to take up their papers. The students said that their whole year's hard work and future was at stake due to the negligence of BSEK.

The students said that nobody is there to bring the officials of the secondary board to books for criminal negligence. They maintained that they had been visiting the Board of Secondary Education for the last several days but their work could not be completed due to rush and crowd.

Minister for Education Boards Ismail Rahu took notice of the issuance of admit cards and immediately sought clarification from Chairman Matriculation Board Karachi.

It was decided that today's paper would be rescheduled for the candidates who remained deprived of taking up their first paper due to mistake in their Admit Cards.
