Former interior minister says next 15 days are crucial in the country’s politics

Former interior minister Sheikh Rashid has said that those who consider state institutions as weak are ‘ignorant and naive’, Express News reported.

The AML chief said in a statement on Saturday that opposition parties hatched a conspiracy against former prime minister Imran Khan but they fell into their own trap.

He further said that the coalition government led by PML-N is abolishing National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to protect themselves from accountability.

Rashid claimed that Sanaullah Abbasi was removed as Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) chief because he refused to withdraw money laundering case against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his son, Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz.

Rashid warned that the next 15 days are very crucial in the country’s politics, saying that the government would make wrong decisions after London tour where PM Shehbaz and senior cabinet members sought PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif’s guidance on how to deal with current challenges facing the country.

The close confidant of former PM Imran said that PTI could give long march call early if the authorities tried to stop anti-government rallies in Faisalabad and Multan.

Earlier today, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) changed the venue for its Sialkot rally to VIP cricket ground after the police stopped its workers from preparing the CTI ground for the public gathering on the grounds that it did not have the permission to hold a rally there.

Members of the minority Christian community had protested and filed a writ petition against the use of the church land for political purposes.

Sialkot District Police Officer (DPO) Hasan Iqbal announced that the venue had been changed. Following the party's decision the SDPO announced that the police will ensure provision of complete security to the party’s rally.
