Five people including a father and his son have been murdered in three different incidents during the last 24 hours in the provincial capital.
In a gruesome incident reported on Wednesday in Shadbagh, a disgruntled man reportedly shot dead his uncle (also his father-in-law) and cousin and three persons including his mother-in-law and two passers-by in Shadbagh.
Police said Adnan alias Achoo was married to the daughter of his uncle Khizar. However, he had divorced her a few months back.
On Wednesday, he along with an accomplice came equipped with sophisticated firearms and barged into his uncle’s house in Bombay Jhuggian and opened fire.
As a result, his uncle Khizar, cousin Hamza and mother-in-law suffered bullet injuries. As the suspects were leaving, they also opened fire leaving two passers-by injured. In the meantime, a police team also reached the spot. Seeing the police, the suspect also opened fire on the police. They reportedly left the scene after snatching a bike from a passer-by.

Inspector General of Police Rao Sardar Ali Khan has taken notice of the incident and sought a report from the CCPO.
IG Punjab directed the senior police officers to reach the spot immediately and round up the accused as soon as possible with the help of Safe City cameras.
In the other incident reported on Wednesday, a man hit his girlfriend to death with a hammer in Baghbanpura.
Police said Muhammad Akram had relations with victim S* for over a decade.
SHO Rana Zaka said the man believed that the woman had been using exorcism to “control him”. He attached her with a hammer and fled from the scene.
