Orange Line BRT, Peoples Bus Service projects reviewed

About 95 per cent of work on the 3.8-kilometer orange line has been completed, says transport department

Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has directed Karachi Mass Transit Authority (KMTS) to complete remaining work on BRT Orange Line corridor by the end of this month so that from the beginning of next month it could be made operational.

He issued these directives while presiding over a meeting here at CM House. The meeting was attended by Minister Transport Sharjeel Memon, Advisor Law Murtaza Wahab, Chief Secretary Sohail Rajput, Planning and Development Chairman Hassan Naqvi, Finance Secretary Sajid Jamal Abro, Transport Secretary Haleem Shaikh, and other officers concerned.

The transport department, giving briefing to the chief minister, said that 95 per cent of work on the 3.8-kilometer orange line has been completed.

The BRT Orange Line starts from TMA Orangi to Jinnah University for Women near the Board Office.

Peoples Intra-district bus service

Officials told the chief minister that SMTA is working on the Rs8 billion Peoples Intra-district bus service project. The NRTC will procure 250 buses, of which 240 would run in Karachi on seven routes and 10 in Larkana.

Officials said that 39 out of 644 bus shelters have been constructed at route three. To a question, the chief minister was told that 120 out of 250 buses have been shipped from Shanghai port.

E-stamping

The Sindh Board of Revenue is introducing an E-Stamping system for online generation and printing of stamp duty challan from the web-based application as well as issuance of e-stamp papers from branches of National Bank of Pakistan. This he said while speaking at the inauguration ceremony of E-stamping at CM House on Tuesday. The meeting was attended by provincial ministers, chief secretary, National Bank President, leading businessmen and others.
