Diamer-Bhasha Dam: US considering support for mega project

Pakistan has requested the international community’s support for development of the Diamer-Bhasha Dam project.

WASHINGTON: The US recognises that the construction of Diamer-Bhasha Dam will help Pakistan meet its exponentially growing energy and development needs, and is considering Islamabad’s request to support the mega project, the US State Department said on Thursday. Pakistan, a spokesperson said, has requested the international community’s support for development of the Diamer-Bhasha Dam project. “We are considering how we can best support Pakistan’s request,” the spokesperson said.

America is not going to support this mega project.Pakistan should pave the way for loan from asian development bank.

I am of the view that Pakistan must get non-restricted funds from America to build Diamer-Bhasha Dam. We need dam for energy and water but not to accept any absurd conditions on it. This also includes illogical rise in tarrif from Diamer-Bhasha Dam.
