LAHORE:

The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) of Punjab has arrested an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) who had allegedly stolen two kilograms of gold and valuables worth millions of rupees which were recovered from the alleged land grabber, Mansha Bomb, during a raid.

This was stated by the Director-General of the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) of Punjab, Rai Manzoor Nasir, at a press conference.

He said that Rs2.1m and 300 riyals, along with gold, were also recovered from the house of Mansha Bomb during a raid.

These were submitted to the public treasury under the custody of ASI Mubashir Iqbal.

Iqbal, however, stole all that stuff. ACE, taking cognizance of the matter, arrested him.

Nasir said that all the gold and cash had been recovered.

Mansha Bomb had been under the spotlight for alleged land grabbing cases in Lahore for the last few years. Over 70 cases of land grabbing are registered against him.

DG Rai Manzoor Nasir told the media persons that a target of three months had been set for resolving 200 important cases on which reports were sought from all the regional directorates.

Action would also be taken against those government employees who had assets beyond means, he added.

He said that their job was to curb corruption, not to humiliate the citizens. Strict action would be taken against the officers who had registered bogus FIRs against innocent people.

Anti-corruption leanings would not be seen towards any political party, and every case would be decided on merit, said the DG.
