Special Assistant to Chief Minister Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) on Information and Public Relations, Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif has said that no wheat smuggling has been reported from K-P to neighboring Afghanistan.
He said that the provincial food department has established two checks posts in addition to already established check posts by FC, FIA and Customs but no smuggling of wheat to Afghanistan has been reported. Barrister Saif, while commenting on a news story about wheat smuggling from the province said K-P Food Department has a very robust control system.
Wheat and flour supply is monitored through a digital system on daily basis. He said, international borders between Afghanistan and K-P are being managed by federal agencies like customs, FIA, and FC etc. and border with Afghanistan has been fenced. It is responsibility of these agencies to stop smuggling of wheat, if there any, he maintained. Barrister Saif said, inter provincial borders between K-P and Punjab and K-P and Balochistan are also sealed. “Only legal transportation of wheat and flour is allowed through these borders,” he added.
