DIJKOT:

Protesting against alleged police lethargy in investigating a murder case, dozens of people blocked the District Council Chowk by qingqi rickshaws and motorbikes.

Their protest continued for hours, causing difficulties for the commuters who got stuck because of the blockade.

The protest was led by Jabbar Masih, a resident of Munir Park, who told the reporters that four people had killed his brother Dilawar Masih in November 2021.

He said that despite the fact that a case had been registered, the in charge of investigation at the Millat Town Police Station was not arresting the accused.

Jabbar Masih alleged that the Millat Town Police Station in charge of investigation had been colluding with the accused.

The protesters chanted slogans against the police at the District Council Chowk, and they also exchanged harsh words with some passersby.

Meanwhile, the protesters lay down on the road after seeing a police vehicle trying to go past them.

Police officers arrived at the scene to negotiate with the protesters and assured them that senior officials were interrogating the arrested accused in the murder case.

The protesters ignored the high officials’ plea and continued with their protest.
