The Station House Officers (SHO) of three police stations in the capital have been suspended and transferred for their failure to control the incidents of car theft.

According to sources, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Muhammad Ahsan Younas has suspended SHO Shabbir Tanoli of Kohsar Police Station and replaced him with SHO Shalimar Police Station Tipu Sultan.

Similarly, SHO of Bani Gala Police Station has been replaced with Abdul Rasheed while Sulaiman Shah has been deputed at Shalimar Police Station.

Meanwhile, Islamabad Police have arrested 16 outlaws, including five drug peddlers from different areas of the city on Monday. They also recovered 5550 grammes of hashish, 1307 grammes of heroin and seven pistols with ammunition.

A police spokesman said that IG Islamabad ordered a crackdown against criminals including those involved in drug peddling and looting people.

A Central Investigating Agency (CIA) police team arrested a drug peddler Waqar Ali and recovered 5,000 grammes of hashish from his possession during special checking in Sector I-8 . Bhara Kahu Police arrested two accused, Sharafat Hussain and Aftab, and recovered 1130 grammes of heroin and one 30 bore pistol with ammunition from their possession.

Golra Police arrested two accused during snap-checking, Akhtar and Haider Ali, and recovered two 30 bore pistols with ammunition from their possession. Tarnol Police and Shalimar Police teams arrested four accused, Farhad Khan, Abdul Rehman, Asad and Muhammad Akram, and recovered one 9mm pistol, a dagger and an iron punch from their possession.

Shahzad Town Police and Nilore Police arrested two accused Awais Mehmood and Raja Harris and recovered 177 grammes of heroin and a 30 bore pistol from their possession. Sihala police team arrested two accused, Zahid and Daniyal, and recovered one 30 bore pistol from their possession. Lohi Bher Police arrested accused Faisal Khan and recovered 310 grammes of hashish from his possession. Cases against all accused have been registered and further investigation is underway.
