A man, along with his friend, allegedly raped his former daughter-in-law and tortured her due to which she died. The suspects allegedly broke into the house of the victim in Nowshera Jalalpur Jattan village, raped her and then tortured her.
The victim was immediately shifted to the Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Hospital. Upon receiving the report of the incident, Sadar Jalalpur Jattan Police Station lodged a rape case on the complaint of Lubna, a sister of the victim, against Fazal and an unknown accomplice of his under Section 375 ATP on April 13, but Uzma died after a few days.
According to the plaintiff, the victim was divorced by her husband Sajid Hussain nearly five years ago after which she had been living in Nowshera Jalalpur Jattan. Her neighbour Ghazala had alerted the rescue service personnel about the incident who had shifted her to the hospital in a critical condition.
She also made video recordings of the incident which had been given to the police and media. The victim had adopted her sister’s son, eightyear-old Ali Raza. According to a spokesman for Gujrat Police, the accused Fazal had been arrested and investigation started.
Earlier this month three men, including a property dealer, allegedly sexually assaulted a woman in Khurrianwala after luring her on the pretext of renting a house, while a 14-year-old girl made a noise and thwarted a rape attempt.
