The Sindh High Court (SHC), taking notice of missing persons including a girl, has ordered concrete efforts to recover them at the earliest.
A two-member bench, headed by Justice Muhammad Iqbal Kalhoro, heard petitions seeking the recovery of two persons, including a girl. The investigating officer (IO) said that some of the accused in jail had raped the sister of the missing girl A. It is suspected that the person involved in the crime is behind the disappearance of the girl.
Justice Kalhoro remarked that the issue of the missing girl is very important and sensitive. Immediate steps should be taken for her recovery, he said. The IO stated that the suspects were gangsters and wanted in different cases by the police.
He went on to say that this seemed to be a case of enforced disappearance, but further investigation is underway. He further stated that the issue of Waqas' disappearance had been discussed in the provincial task force and letters were written to various institutions and awaiting a reply.
The court sought a progress report from the authorities on the petitions. The court adjourned further hearing till May 2.
