Police give final check to security arrangements

The day of martyrdom of Hazrat Ali (RA) will be commemorated today (Saturday) the 21st of Ramazan with utmost devotion and respect.

On the occasion of Youm-e-Ali, processions, rallies, seminars and conferences will be organized in which scholars and Zakirs will shed detailed light on the life of Hazrat Ali (RA) - cousin and son-in-law of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the fourth among the Righteous Caliphs of the Muslim Ummah.

Mourning processions will be held in all small and big cities. The main procession of Youm-e-Ali in Karachi will start from Nishtar Park. Earlier, the Central Majlis-e-Aza will be held at Nishtar Park after which the main procession will come out at 12 noon and will arrive at Numaish Chowrangi from where it will reach Tibet Center through Regal Chowk Saddar and while passing through its designated route including Jamia Cloth, City Court, Denso Hall, Light House and Bolton Market will culminate at Imambargah Hussainia Iranian in Kharadar.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) South Sharjeel Kharal while chairing a meeting on Friday, finalised the security arrangements of the main procession scheduled to be taken out in connection with Youm-e-Ali (RA), from Nishtar Park.

DIG South directed all sector commanders to survey their routes end-to-end and also start monitoring the arrangements.

He directed officers to conduct effective combing operations in collaboration with Sindh Rangers and should also coordinate with technical teams in these operations.

The officials concerned were also asked to start night surveillance.

It was decided at the meeting that all the officers would be in touch with each other through WhatsApp group.

The South Zone Police as well as Rangers, Elite Commandos, Traffic Police, Bomb Disposal Unit and Special Branch officers will ensure the security of the main procession of Youm-e-Ali (R.A).

Ambulances will be deployed at the proposed points along the route of Youm-e-Ali procession. Roads around the route will be closed and the procession route will be completely sealed.
